Alex is a poet and award-winning translator, currently studying at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. A 2023 National Endowment for the Arts translation fellow, she works from the French, Russian, and Spanish. Her poems and translations have been published in Harper’s, Poetry Daily, Columbia Journal, and Best Literary Translations 2025, among others. She is the author of Elephant (dancing girl press), and her most recent book-length translation, The Endless Week by Laura Vazquez (Dorothy Project), was shortlisted for the Republic of Consciousness Prize and named a finalist for the French-American Foundation’s Translation Prize in Fiction. Her translation from the Russian of For the Shrew by Anna Glazova (Zephyr Press) won the Heldt Prize and AATSEEL Book Award for Best Poetry Translation. She has held residencies at the Michalski Foundation, Dora Maar House, Translation House Looren, and Collège européen des traducteurs littéraires de Seneffe.
Alex is a translation co-editor for Another Chicago Magazine, poetry co-editor for The Iowa Review, and the project coordinator for the SALT Project at the University of Chicago.
